Minar MF Series

Minar MF Series are the unsheathed end glow fiber strands with an attenuation of 0.25dB/M. At 15 meters, the light transmission loss is about 58%. Its minimum bending radius is 10 times its diameter.

This unsheathed single-core fiber strand is also known as the bare fiber tail. Its core material is PMMA (Polymethyl-Methacrylate Resin, Acrylic) with Fluorinated Polymers as the cladding material. The fiber strand itself does not emit light or contain any color, as it just transmits the light from the light engine to the end. The intensity and color of the transmitted light depend on the light engine (also known as the light source, projector, or illuminator) and the fiber strands' attenuation rate.

The common diameters of single-core PMMA fiber are 0.5mm, 0.75mm, 1.0mm, 1.5mm, 2.0mm, 2.5mm, and 3.0mm. For the Minar MF series of fiber strands, the longest recommended length is about 15 to 18 meters if it is powered by our 80W fiber optic light engine.

- Bare Fiber Tail
  
  The single core PMMA optical fiber strands have no covering sheath. During installation and use, special care should be taken to the strands not to touch any solid objects or to bear pressure to prevent scratching or crushing.
- Attenuation: 0.25dB/M
  
  Usually we recommend the longest length of the MF series fiber strands is about 15 meters to 18 meters.
  
  The right picture shows a performance comparison of different fiber strands driven by our 40W light engine, LEI-4001, at 10 meters. Those fiber tails are CK-30, MF-75, MLF-75, and other brand in the market.
- Bendng Radius
  
  The material of the fiber stands is PMMA, and one characteristic of PMMA fiber bundles is their brittleness. During installation, please note that the minimum bending radius is 10 times its diameter.
- Hot Knife
  
  A hot knife is recommended for cutting a cluster of fiber tails, especially when making the fiber connector.
- Scissors
  
  Regular scissors and needle-nose pliers can be used to cut a single strand. Ensure that the cutting surface is flat.
- Ambient Temperature
  
  The ambient temperature of the POF is - 55 ℃ -+70 ℃. When the ambient temperature is high, such as that in the sauna room, it is recommended to use the fiber strands with PVC sheath and ceiling end fittings.
